About the product
Our whetstone features both coarse (400) and fine (1000) grit sides, made of professional-grade corundum and designed for both professional chef and in-home use.
400-Grit Side
For repairing knives with chipped edges or to set new bevel angle. Also suitable for very dull knives.
1000-Grit Side
-For knives that have lost their edge and need a good sharpen. While sharpening quick enough and smooth enough for most kitchen prep work, 1000 grits whetstone is most popular among chefs.
What whetstone grit should you choose?
Less than 1000 grit
For repairing chips or setting a new bevel angle on a blade, especially damaged knives.
1000 to 3000 grit
Used to sharpen dull but not damaged knives.
4000 to 8000 grit
They are finishing stones and are used to refine your knife edge to razor sharp. Such an edge is ideal for slicing delicate ingredients like seafood, but a cutting edge this fine will dull faster with use.
